Disclosure Statement
Nature and scope of advice
Wealthpoint Limited (FSP678011) holds a Financial Advice Provider licence issued by the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) to provide financial advice services. Our advisers are engaged by Wealthpoint Limited and provide financial advice on behalf of Wealthpoint Limited.
Mars Financial Limited advisers provide financial advice on general insurance products only, including:
- Domestic insurance
- Commercial insurance
- Liability insurance
- Contract works insurance
- Professional indemnity insurance
- Management liability insurance
- Marine and transit insurance
- Other general insurance products
Our advisers do not provide advice on life insurance, health insurance, KiwiSaver, investments, or home lending products. However, we do have specialists within the wider Wealthpoint Network who we can refer you to.
For those referrals, we may receive a referral fee at a flat rate or as a percentage of the commission or fee received by the referred adviser. This will be detailed at the time of the recommendation.
Commissions, Fees and Conflicts
Product providers may pay Wealthpoint a commission for business placed with them. This commission is generally based on a percentage of the insurance premium paid by the client.
This commission is paid to Wealthpoint, which has agreements with insurers and underwriting agencies to distribute their insurance products.
Wealthpoint then pays commission to the relevant Wealthpoint member business, including Mars Financial Limited, while retaining a portion of the commission.
The amount of commission payable depends on the insurer, underwriting agency, and type of insurance product arranged.
From time to time, advisers may attend professional development training, conferences, or events subsidised by insurers or product providers.
Clients may also be charged fees for services provided by Mars Financial Limited. Any such fees will be disclosed and agreed with clients in advance.
To ensure advisers prioritise clients' interests above their own, Mars Financial Limited follows an advice process designed to ensure recommendations are based on each client's individual needs, objectives, and circumstances.
All advisers are regulated by the FMA and are subject to Wealthpoint compliance and quality assurance processes.
